Did the first official scraping of frost off my car this morning. Wheeee! It was so pretty. I always hate when it melts off the windows, even though I know theoretically I should be happier that I've regained greater visibility while I'm driving. Either way, looks like I'll have to start budgeting extra time into getting ready in the morning just to be on the safe side. Still - frost! Winter! YAY!

Found out they're thinking of naming the Bay Bridge after Emperor Norton (link courtesy of Neil Gaiman's blog, naturally. Click on it for a quickie explanation of who Emperor Norton is in case you don't know.) I think that would be the damned coolest thing. I hope it passes.

Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.

Dear universe: I don't know why you're stabbing me with an icepick, but please stop. I have belly dance class tonight and I'd really rather not miss it.

I called my teacher and told her I wouldn't be coming to class. I figured the fact that I wanted to throw up even while sitting still was probably a good indication that bobbing up and down was not a good plan for me for tonight.

On the plus side, my boss saw how sick I was and let me go home an hour early. So I curled up on the couch with the cats and rested and mainlined Exedrin and I'm feeling a bit better. Not up for dancing along to my Fat Chance DVD as a way to make up for missing class tonight, but at least better enough that I don't need to curl up in a freezing cold dark room and not come out until tomorrow morning either. Small victories, but I'll take what I can get.

Now I have a whole free night to myself. I hardly know what to do with it.

I must say, even with the headache and the disappointment of missing class, I'm still in a happy mood. It's Xmas season! Xmas songs are on the radio (and I only had to hear Bruce Springsteen and that @#$%ing version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town once so far. Ditto Christmas Shoes which is just - no. No.), the weather's finally getting colder, there's a whole host of desserts to bake and gatherings to plan. Plus everybody in town has gone nuts with the lights this year. It must be because outdoor display light technology has gone through significant improvements or something because I'm seeing tons of houses really decked out for the holidays - and in the cool way, not the obnoxious showing off kind of way. It's just neat is all.

Plus I got most of my shopping done online. I think enjoyment of the holidays is greatly helped when you can avoid having to go into a store of any kind. Even the grocery store just hums with stress and tension which just strikes me as being silly. I do have to buy two presents tomorrow via the method of venturing out into the world, but I'm hoping that since I'll be going out during the day (I have tomorrow off, I'm working Saturday) that the crowds and stress won't be too bad. Plus I can kind of zip in and zip out again real quick, since I already know what I'll be getting.

Now all we need is that snow that they're promising for Sunday or Monday. Last report I heard said it might be going out to sea. That is unacceptable! I want snow before the holidays, damn it! It's like a present but from mother nature.
