Er - is there a doctor in the house?

I honestly do not know the answer to this question and WebMD doesn't cover it beyond saying when I should go to a doctor. So I appeal to you, the viewers at home:

Is a sore throat something you stay home for? I went to bed maybe 5 hours ago and I felt more or less fine, then I woke up now because it hurts when I swallow. My WebMD symptom check only puts me at "sore throat with pain from swallowing" and says I should try home treatment for the next 8 hours to see if I improve b/f calling a doctor, but in the meanwhile is that a call in sick to work thing? Because I'm due to go to work in about 2 hours.

So, um, help?

ETA: Got no sleep after that, felt even worse. Called in sick.

And the verdict is...

Well regardless of the sore throat issue on its own, I got no sleep once it came on me so I called in sick to work. Also called my doctor's office b/c I'm all owie and sick and stuff.

So there we are. Further bulletins as events warrent.

I'm sick!

Got back from the doctor's. Apparently I've got something that everybody in town has so as soon as I started listing the symptoms (including the tiredness I've been bitching about for over a week now) he was all "Mm-hmm. It's a good thing you came in."

I'm back home now with some antibiotics and the instructions to treat the symptoms with various over the counter stuff and to not go in to work tomorrow as apparently I am contageious. Thursday will be entirely up to how I'm feeling.

In the meanwhile I've got my West Wing DVDs, my Angel DVDs, Tivo, plenty of chicken soup and other ready-made foods (and just to show you how bad I am at taking care of myself I actually have to sit here and tell myself that it's actually okay that I don't take this time to make chicken soup from scratch), two cats who are dying to snuggle and a couch that looks mighty comfy.

So that'll be my plans for today and tomorrow.

wolfling? justhuman? I'm still planning on doing 24/Queer Eye with the both of ya. But if I don't show up for IRC it'll be because I fell asleep again. For some strange reason I'm very tired ;) But expect to see me as I'm expecting to be there.
