Back from services. Much more snow came down during that time than I gave it credit for. Good thing I didn't stay for all of coffee hour. Or, well, er, any of it since I booked out of there once the service was done. *cough*
It's coming down now all snowglobe like. I love it, esp now that I no longer have to drive in it (and once again we light a candle in thanks to the god of anti-lock breaks). In fact it's so neat and pretty that I won't even do the mini-rant I had stored up about the morons who, much like those in summertime who go around saying "how about this heat?" in winter feel the need to wax on and on about how in their home of Fargo, Buffolo, or even the North Pole they
laugh at this kind of snow and the chicken littling that can go on around it down here in insert-non-artic-zone-of-your-choice-here as though, somehow, that made them superior and not, in actuality, seriously annoying and not at all likely to make the rest of us look at them with awe, admiration, or even the vague incling that they truly are the wittiest people to exist on this earth now that Oscar Wilde is dead. So none of that from me, because it's snowing and it's pretty and I like it. So there.
The latest news on the Annika front is that she had to go in for xrays, and ended up spending the night at the hospital (with her mom), and the diagnosis is viral pneumonia but it's hoped she'll get home today.
Of all the things that manage to amaze me about the Hussein thing, the one that gets me the most is that they broke the story at 7am on a Sunday. Considering how every other damn thing about this whole Iraq deal hasn't happened without being shoved through a PR firm, I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if they'd waited to release the news until, say, prime time. And of course you can rank me right up there with everybody else who has already said words to the effect of "Remember that 'ends don't justify the means' thing? Still true. Also it's not an end, because we still remember the part where you haven't done jack about North Korea or that guy, whatshisface, who attacked us on 9-11, or for that matter all the assholey things you're still doing in Iraq, the US, and to every single friendly relation we had the word over that doesn't involve places whose names begin with "Eng" and end with "land" and even there not really. But if you want to sit there and suck your own cock because you caught a mouse while we're over here talking about the roach problem, you go nuts honey. Still not voting for you next election."
Plans for the rest of the day include relaxing, doing my online Xmas shopping, and, if all goes well, getting my holiday cards done. I may also gather you all 'round later for a Xmas story, since I was able to get ahold of the book my brother and I used to read from when we were kids. There'll be cocoa. It'll be fun. =)
ETA: oh yeah, and happy birthday
