In the home stretch
Dec. 30th, 2002 11:55 amI'm finding it hard to believe that it's the 30th already. Possibly because I have work today and that just seems wrong. OTOH work is a good thing that allows me to pay my bills. We like work. Work can stay. Work could possibly give me a raise in another couple of months or so like Boss hinted at when he hired me.
The budget thing is totally biting my ass b/c I sat down to make a couple of tentative ones when I had a free moment at work and somehow the math isn't adding up b/c when I do the numbers off of the top of my head I end up in the negatives, but when I pay my bills by the end of the month I end up with cash leftover. I suppose in theory this could be money leftover from the bit o'cash that the folks gave me to help tide me over during my time in unemployment but OTOH I've met my spending habits before and I really really doubt it.
But - new year, new budget system. Esp now that for the first time in a long while I finally have a job that pays me the same amount every week. Before this - even with the school - I was always doing contracting type work so my paycheck flexed quite a bit. So I have to reassure myself that I'm doing good, just have to be realistic about how much I can spend. Plus not like I have a choice ;)
Goals for the new year are to make the new budget, put myself on a strict weekly allowance, and slowly but surely work my way through the debt I racked up during my intermittent paycheck plus unemployment time. I won't get out of the debt I racked up by the end of the year, but I can at least set up the budget to help start the process.
In theory anyway ;)
