This is why I don't like talking
Dec. 12th, 2002 05:10 pmOn the plus side I have today off and I'm getting a lot of little things done. Nothing major in and of itself but each new thing done is one less thing I've got to worry about.
On the mostly plus side my reverend gave me a call to share his sympathies about my uncle dying, which was very sweet of him and the sort of hands-on thing that makes me like my church so much.
But on the downside damn it I hate talking about this. Esp if I don't have to. Which I realize now, after talking with him. B/c he really is the nicest guy but in all honesty it's not like he's doing the memorial or something so this was mostly a call to say hi and share sympathy which, again, good, but leaves me in the position of having to talk about the details when I don't necessarily want to.
Much as I hate how many services I've missed, I think ironically this has cemented for me the fact that it's a good idea I'm not going this Sunday. Having to have this painfully kind conversation over and over again during coffee hour would just leave me gutted, I think.
Finally - on the totally plus side, thanks to all those of you who are sending me cards. I'm making garlands out of them. It's esp nice for me because I can't afford Xmas decorations this year beyond a wreath I decorated, so hanging the cards up makes the house feel more festive. So - thanks. =)
