thebratqueenI love fall. It's my favorite time of year. Winter comes close but fall and I are good friends. It's just cold enough to get snuggly with tea and a blanket, not so cold that you're digging your car out of a blizzard.
Plus fall has such good holidays - Halloween, Thanksgiving, my birthday (what? You all celebrate that, right?). I don't know if I could honestly say winter was as good as it is if it didn't have Christmas and New Year's helping it out.
My Halloween was nice. I didn't get any trick or treaters but then again I came home at 7pm so maybe they tried and had no luck. Shame - I had candy.
Made a new dish for myself in honor of the holiday (holy by both of my religions). Not sure I like it though. I'm waiting to see if it improves once the sauce has settled for a day. If not - oh well, I tried.
Also trying pot roast for the first time. It's roasting away in the crock pot. We'll see how that goes. On Sunday I'm going to try baked beans.
My birthday this year falls after Thanksgiving, just as it did on my actual day of birth. My brother can't get that Friday off so we're going to celebrate it on Saturday. Mom suggested that since we'd have Older Brother and P there on Saturday, why don't we do the big ol' turkey dinner then too?
I told her that it worked for me - how's about she and dad come over to my place on actual Thanksgiving? Mom said cool and there we are. =)
Admittedly I'm excited. I've never done a semi-formal family dinner thing before. Should be fun. Already know what I'm making for the main course. Just need to figure out appetizers and dessert. Possibly I may foist one of those off on mom since it's our habit that I'll usually bring one of those along when I eat at her place, so we'll see.
But - yay! I wanted to do a Thanksgiving dinner for my folks once I got my own place and now, 3 years after moving out on my own, I am. Woohoo! =)
