Random fic observation
Mar. 22nd, 2002 09:03 pmWhat's with authors who don't understand the concept of exposition? I'm looking at this fic in my box which has easily two paragraphs worth of lead-in. I won't say what fandom so as to not embarass the author, but it's the equivalant of "Okay I'm writing a Smallville fic except I'm going to use the Marvel Comics universe as the basis for how superpowers work and Lex actually goes to school with Clark instead of being older than him and Lana's parents didn't die in the meteor shower although the shower did still happen and -"
You know if it's an AU judges will allow a touch of explanation in your author notes, but at some point just tell the damn story. Let the narrative take care of these things.
