Candlesticks. Candlesticks are good.
Sep. 7th, 2002 07:20 pmWent shopping for my cousin's wedding. It was a tough call since we're friendly but we're not close, plus I'm still poor from being unemployed. Plus I'm technically going as my dad's partner (my mom can't do events) which sort of puts me under the umbrella of the check that he and mom are writing, but OTOH not exactly.
To top it off this is the first family wedding I've been to since - geez, must be over a decade, so I'd hate for this to turn into a gossip fest about how TBQ didn't get dick for a gift.
Finally decided on the Bull Durham route - Candlesticks. Which then turned into a lovely trivet when I realized it'd be easier to carry. But it's cheap enough I can afford it, fancy looking enough that it's an acceptable "look I got you something" gift, and silences the voices in my head from worrying that I'm going to make a bad showing here.
Tomorrow at my church there's apparently going to be some debate about whether or not to put a rainbow flag out to show that the church is gay friendly. I hope I can join in - the guy who called me to give me a head's up said that it was going to be after services, but I don't know if that includes the coffee hour or not. I won't be able to stay long b/c I'll need to get ready for the wedding so we'll see.
