thebratqueenToday was good in that I got a lot of shopping done. I was even able to fulfill my desire to get a cute little skirt for fall. You have no idea how hard that is when you have your heart set on something colorful and maybe even with a pattern and everyone and their kid sister has black... and that's it. But I finally lucked out at Macy's, and the skirt in question was on sale twice over so it only cost about twenty bucks and change. This is all to the good because I need to rebuild my entire fall and winter wardrobe and I am very much not made of money at the moment. So here's me deal-shopping like a deal-shopping thing. Luckily my town does not lack for stylish yet affordable stores, as well as Goodwill and consignment shops. I shall certainly be attacking them for pants and tops.
Of the bad was that my hopes for a dog got stomped into little pieces. I lucked out at the Humane Society website because they had an entire section devoted to pet policies for rentals and co-op complexes so I really thought I could go into this armed with good research and start paving the way for the pet bylaws, which really need revision anyway as they're far too general, to be changed to allow dogs as well.
Unfortunately it turns out the dog issue had come up already, and recently, and for a situation that I can't give too many details on in a public post but suffice it to say that allowing a dog would've brought with it a benefit to the co-op complex as a whole and even with that it was still decided to keep dogs out. Apparently no dogs allowed is considered to be both a benefit and a selling point. The vote came up, the board unanimously voted to keep the policy as-is, and here we are.
I kinda didn't realize how much I really wanted a dog until my hopes for getting one were taken away.
