So Ernesto blew into town on Saturday and ripped the town apart. The winds got so bad that at least once or twice an hour you'd hear a loud BANG! of something huge and dangerous falling to the ground.
Sometime on Saturday afternoon there was a loud CRACK like a gun being fired right in your ear. It was another tree that had fallen behind my co-op complex, taking electric wires with it and starting a fire to boot. Luckily the fire was quickly taken care of, but power was out from Saturday afternoon until about 3:30am this morning.
Saturday night felt like trying to sleep in a war zone what with all the crashing trees, rushing winds, and near-constat sound of sirens as ambulences and firefighters did their thing. Remember the first tree I talked about? It made the front page of the paper the damage was so bad.
Sunday at least was calmer, albeit a calm with sounds of chainsaws all day long. I got out of the house, did some book shopping, napped a good chunk of the day away (finally, a plus side to that zombie side-effect from my meds!) and when I wasn't napping I was knitting.
mpoetess will be happy to know I'm in the home stretch of finishing her scarf.
Today I'll need to do tons of stuff to catch up - there's laundry and housecleaning and throwing out pretty much everything in my fridge and freezer (which fortunately had stuff in it that was getting close to the "eat it or toss it" stage anyway). If I have energy enough I'll go shopping for supplies but we'll see.
I also have some pictures of the fallen trees that I may upload later.
In the meanwhile? *OMG CLINGS* Never leave me again!!!
