My boys! My boys!

I'm behind on my flist, don't know what everybody else has said. But you know I couldn't go to bed without commenting on tonight's TV.
First off: Eee! Serenity trailer! During House! Awwww yeah. I'm suddenly loving the advertising campaign.
Alrighty, shows. All opinions, no real analysis, but behind cut tags anyway.
Dave! Dave on TV! Dave looking hot and snapping a guy's wrist and shooting a gun and wearing a suit!!!
I'll be in my bunk.
...
What? You wanted more than that?
Okay...
Kita was right (oh how often those words are true). The Fox promo monkeys are just that: promo monkeys. They did Bones's character no favor by shoving down her ultra!cool!chick status down our throats in the previews. That being said, I wish she had more weaknesses. I realize the whole lack of knowledge of pop culture plus lack of knowledge of people thing is supposed to be a weakness, but I feel like she can't be smart and an expert martial artist who can take down a Homeland Security guy the size of a linebacker and be a crack shot. Too much perfection. It vibes Mary Sue. Granted, some of that might be due to this being the pilot where they have to make everything clunky and dialed up to 11 on the odd chance you might not get it.
Strangely, I felt they did a good job with making Booth subtle. Maybe that was because he's not the protagonist, but I liked how they allowed things like his second, better, shot and him walking away at the sniping comment to simply happen and be left for the audience to notice or not notice. If they can take the subtlety they were using with him and put it everywhere else they'll have a show that goes from a B/B+ to at least an A-
I also liked the interplay with them. Not too forced on the relationship, and they both made me believe these were two people who had worked together before. About the only OTT moment was Booth leaning in while she was against the wall, but on the other hand David was being all dark and glowery and I'm a cheap whore, so what's your problem?
So yeah, much better show than the promos would've had you believe. Glad I watched. It stays on my Tivo.

And now House:
House! Back! My boy! Snarky and wonderful and - YAY!!!
What? Need I say anything else? 8)
