thebratqueenThe final two eps for the show were interesting. It's funny to see how the various family personalities evolved. Everybody stayed true to themselves up until the end.
It's a shame that the Clunes made such a lifestyle of dodging the rules. How did they think that box spring wasn't ever going to be noticed? If nothing else they should have been smart enough to take it out of the house again before the evaluation took place. I agreed with the historians that pointed out much as the cleverness could get you by in the short term, it stopped applying once Nature came in.
Papa Glenn was such an interesting character. I could honestly see this guy giving up on everything and living in a mountain shack for the rest of his days. Shame it was so obvious to everybody that he wasn't fond of the kids.
It was a twist in the gut to see the Sept 11 reference in there. I wonder how much they realized they missed by not getting news reports and such. It was hard for me to watch, brief though it was, because I've got a real vulnerability to snapshots and images of people before the attacks. I feel like I've cracked open a morbid time machine where I can see someone smiling and think "God, you have no idea what's about to happen."
Hmm. I'm sure there's more I'd like to comment on but I'm drawing blanks. Anybody catch the final two hours and want to share? If you haven't watched the show yet keep your eye on your TV listings. Many PBS stations are rerunning it during the week and doing marathons of it on the weekend.
