So I find out now that LJ's comment notifications aren't coming through email in a timely fashion, thus leaving me with the assumption that the people I'm doing RPG tags with are busy and therefore I've got nothing but free time on my hands.

Le sigh.

Well, caught up on my tags, I think. Also finished writing the next Epiphany (it's off at the beta reader's) and did a spot of house cleaning. Now I am selfishly sitting in air conditioning because much though it's not hot outside it's freaking humid and my apt felt like a swamp.

I also finished The Devil Wore Prada and seriously, what does Ahn-dre-ah want? A cookie? I am so not impressed with her. Although I did get a delightful cackle when Miranda pointed out that Ahn-dre-ah's attitude had been obvious. I was really waiting for her to be told she would have gotten the job at the New Yorker if she hadn't been such a snot about the least little thing.

Not that I'm saying Andrea's job was cakewalk, but still - she was so put-upon about everything that I could never feel sympathetic for her. What got me in particular was one line early on when Andrea had been given everything she needed to know about Miranda "except why I should care" or however she worded it. I nearly threw the book across the room. Uh, how about because she's your boss, asshole?

And the constant reminders about how she was so much better than these people. She eats, you know. She wears sweat pants. She can't be bothered to wear real makeup for a black tie event. What ever. As I say, what do you want, a cookie?

And when push comes to shove, it wasn't really that great a look into the fashion magazine industry either. The bare bones facts - everyone needs to look like a model, there are sample clothes that employees can get their hands on, the parties are outlandish - were covered pretty quickly. We didn't get nearly the kind of behind the scenes detail that we do in The Nanny Diaries.

So thumbs down on this. I'm sorry I bought it. It would've been a good library book, though, so I guess I'll dump my copy off there if none of my friends want it. Sadly I was not smart enough to save my reciept, but at least I didn't pay full price for it either.

Now to ponder making dinner.
