Saturday mor...oh, wait, it's afternoon.
Jun. 24th, 2006 01:53 pmI got approximately 12 hours of sleep last night, which is either a sign that my body really needed the rest and/or that I'm not totally out of the zombie state yet even though thinking is easier than it was earlier this week.
Brunch today is proper tea, grapes, an apple, and some cinnamon crepes with sugar sprinkled on top. The crepes are tasty but did not come out as crepe like as I would have wanted. I'm using a new pan and a new recipe, plus it's been a year since I've made any crepes at all so possibly I just need more practice. On the upside they taste good either way. I'm lucky in that for the most part the worst that happens with my food misshaps is that it doesn't look good. Typically it's still edible.
Last week I made cinnamon rolls from scratch for the first time. I used Alton Brown's recipe, slightly tweaked for regular yeast instead of instant. They came out great. I made them for my dad for Father's day and with that and tea and coffee it made a nice brunch for all. What I love about the recipe is that it works overnight. To me the ideal cinnamon rolls are ones that allow you to stumble out of bed, throw something in the oven, and then wake up while it's cooking.
My hope for today was to FINALLY get plants for my back porch, but yet again it's pouring down rain. I'm trying to relax with my food right now in the hopes that it'll calm down outside by the time I'm done, but it's most frustrating to be constantly thwarted on this by either my health or the weather. If I must be thwarted, couldn't they at least team up? I could wake up all frustrated that I'm too exhausted to do anything, open my blinds and ta da! Rain! Gosh darn, gotta stay in.
Oh well.
*goes to get more tea*
