thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Seasonal)
Today I discovered that my blender unscrews from the bottom to make for easy cleaning. Unfortunately I only discovered this while it was in use and filled with grape juice. Ahem.

My Sunday thus far is a supremely lazy affair. I spent the morning in bed either dozing or reading fic on my Palm. Late brunch, a charade of productivity with some housecleaning that wasn't done yesterday, then back to being lazy again. I was going to make pickles but then realized I forgot to buy onions. Which is just as well since: lazy.

Writing-wise various things flit and flutter about my mind. We'll see if any make it to the page or if my brain will remain lethargic throughout the day. I did do a small update to my tickler file of places I might want to submit to professionally. That's always fun because you find yourself reading listings and asking if you meet the qualifications. This can be very obvious on things like m/m erotica, but can take some soul-searching when you need to ask yourself if holding a baby alligator once on a swamp tour really qualifies you for a zine by and for reptile fanciers.

Now I go back to thinking about pretty boys and the things they do together and whether or not any of them will hold still long enough for me to write about them. Also I bat my eyes winsomely at [livejournal.com profile] obsessedmuch and she knows damn well why.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (dead gay show)
I'm eating dinner and watching The Dive From Clausen's Pier, aka "Michelle Trachtenbrrg and Sean Maher earn what was apparently some much-needed rent money." I'd comment on Michelle's acting or lack therein, but I'm way too distracted by wondering if Sean is actually gay. Because first off Simon was about the gayest thing that ever did gay in gaytown, which could've just been the character, except Sean keeps giving his character here, a character who's supposed to be this uber-sexy laid-back cooler-than-thou bad boy, the kind of blocking I'd normally expect to come equipped with Carson Kressley and some Crest White Strips on the side. So it does raise the question of the common denominator, but then again I've never met him in person or watched any interviews, so no clue if he on his own would make my gaydar jump up and down and wave its arms.

Promos for Kitchen Confidential do not, IMO, include nearly enough Nick in them.

Bones looks interesting in that I've read about the woman it's based on and that sounds cool. Also Dave seems to be doing what I'm sure he'd like right now, which is having a steady job where the livelihood of hundreds of people is not put in jeopardy just because he gets a cold that week. Not quite sure yet what they're trying to do with his character, but I'm a cheap whore and him doing that glowery thing up against the wall is... yeah. Ahem. Thank you Tivo.

I will say this, though: I don't like the chick. And this could be a fatal flaw for the show since she's the lead and the schtick of the show is her character so it's not like she's replacable. Granted it's Fox and their promos are made by space monkeys, but in every Bones promo I see we basically get this chick copping a snippy 'tude where everything she does seems to be accompanied by a flashing sign that says "Did you see that? I'm unexpected! I am breaking your mental barriers! I'm playing a woman academic but I won't be bowed by this male society! Watch me do unexpected things that you never expected because you can't handle how different I am!" which, okay, is a big sign but you get my point. Like promos for Alias, back before that first aired, didn't have to try so damn hard to let you know that Sydney Bristow was a kick-ass female. With this chick it's like... what are you trying for here? Am I supposed to like her? Wish I could be her? Other? Because right now I want to tell her to sit down and put it away before she hurts herself.

Plus let's consider that in these promos we see David hit at least 3 emotions (professional, sexy/glowery, annoyed) and so far she's only got the one. Now yes, David came very far from Buffy s1 but let me say again: David Boreanaz is showing more emotional range in these commercials than the lead actress is. That can't ever be a good sign.

Now back to Lifetime.
