Ribbon scarf
Jul. 12th, 2005 11:44 amAfter some debate and looking through my yarn stash I decided to try to whip together a drop stitch scarf using some lovely blue ribbon yarn that
cindershadow was kind enough to bequeath to me. It fulfills my need to be lightweight, mostly decorative, and easy enough to knit that I can work on it this Friday while I'm hanging out in Borders and, I'm sure, being distracted by everybody else who's hanging out in Borders. (I realize a Hogwarts scarf would be more theme appropriate, but if anyone asks I'll just say I'm making garments for house elves.)
I knit up a few inches last night in the time I normally would've spent reading before bed. It came out very pretty, though I may frog what I've done and go up a needle size or two. The ribbon was so thin that I thought 8s would be big enough, but now I'm thinking 10s. The pattern's okay as is but I think it would be softer and lacier at a larger size, plus the larger size would knit up quicker anyway. So we'll see. Tonight what I'll probably do is just do a few rows with bigger needles right where I am now and if I don't like it I can just frog back to the current length, use the 8s again, and keep going.
I'll be seeing my grams this Sunday, so here's hoping I can whip it up fast. I have an image of myself still knitting on the drive down there.
