Still more ways to help

If you've got a talent to share, consider doing a post there. Remember this doesn't have to be restricted to fannish things. Maybe you make jewelry, or leatherwork. Maybe you've got DVDs that you'd be happy to give away for the sake of a good cause. Maybe you've got some web space you don't mind giving up to host somebody's site in exchange for a donation. Don't be afraid to put on the ol' thinking cap and offer. The worst that happens is nothing, which is right where you started. But you won't know until you try, and even if only one person says yes then that's money that wouldn't have been donated before.
If you think small donations can't do enough, you might want to read helenmelon's post about how far five dollars can go in that region. Every little bit does help.
Arthur C Clarke lives in Sri Lanka, and talks with Roger Ebert about what's going on over there. He recommends sending donations to CARE, Oxfam, and Sarvodaya, the latter of which is specific to Sri Lanka.
