RIP Julia Child. I used to watch her on PBS when I was a kid, and from that I went on to watching other chefs, and from there to actually trying to cook. (Which I nearly wrote as "cook myself" then realized that might not have the meaning I intended it to). So if it wasn't for her, and the trends she started, it's very likely I would not have the attitude I do about food and cooking today. I think I'll try a new recipe tonight in her honor.

So I've been having a rough week (long story, not worth going into) and while on the phone with my mom I just so happen to mention that for days now I've been getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop, and it's been quite disheartening.

Later on, my dad calls her to say he's coming home from work, and are there any errands she'd like him to run while he's on the way?

To which she says, "Yes. You go over to our daughter's apartment and give her a hug!"

So he did.
