I feel like a Himalayan. ([livejournal.com profile] stakebait will know what that means.)

You know when you have a nightmare? And you wake up in a total panic and turn on all the lights and dig out your teddy bear from the closet and turn on your TV and radio and even the dishwasher just to be on the safe side and you just sit there hyperventilating and waiting for the zombies to come eat you alive? And intellectually you know that it's just the leftover chemicals from the nightmare still zinging their way through your bloodstream, but until they settle down you're still on zombie watch?

I kind of feel like that. Except I had no nightmares. Also it's not so much zombie watch as the feeling that any minute now I'll discover I'm in one of those dreams where I can't do math. Not frightening per se, just weird.

[hunkers down and waits to discover that she can't calcuate a tip]

I should be surprised. Sadly, I am not. Head's-up provided by [livejournal.com profile] plaidder:

Reports that Lead to Terror Alert Were Years Old.

Quote:

Much of the information that led the authorities to raise the terror alert at several large financial institutions in the New York City and Washington areas was three or four years old, intelligence and law enforcement officials said on Monday. They reported that they had not yet found concrete evidence that a terrorist plot or preparatory surveillance operations were still under way.

I... I just hate the people in our government right now so much. And the sad thing is, probably not many people will ever hear about this tidbit of information.

My head and my desk really need to stop meeting this often.
