thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (anti-drug)
Had a most loverly and productive weekend in which the productivity is best exemplified by the fact that I actually put a stack of photos into a photo album (a huge step for me, who tends to never get around to getting film developed in the first place) and the loveliness takes many forms, such as walks downtown, good BBQ, and a rewatching of PoA.

I was also stalked by deer. This was a bit surreal, but I like deer so it wasn't that much of a hardship.

Watched "She" again yesterday. It's fun to watch the eps and pick up on little things that you didn't notice the first time. Like Angel's multiple "I'm so starting to crush on this guy" looks to Wes are fairly obvious, but David's acting skill in the scene where Wes blathers on and on about the party and chatting up the fillies and then later bursts into flames, chokes, and dies when he can't handle a compliment on his sweater is just great. Seriously, go back and rewatch that moment. Alexis is there goofing it up hardcore, and David manages to stand in the background, hold his mark, and maintain a constant look of quiet bemusement where really all he does is blink but it's the perfect accompaniment to the emotional flailing that Alexis is doing. Perfect straight guy (so to speak) moment. Alexis would have been funny all on his own, but having David in the background carries the humor that much more. It's really well done.

It reminds me, too, of how part of what made AtS work is the fact that David wasn't like most stars who demand that their character always be the best, either in the shots used or even in the way they handle themselves. He does scenes where he provides quiet help to his co-stars, or he lets his character look like an idiot, such as later with the mooshing of the coffee beans. It's stuff like that which made Angel the character and Angel the show more real, so props for that I say.

And speaking of rewatching, having rewatched PoA I once again am reminded that I am so, so going to the special Hell. I also had various thoughts about the possible purposeful use of werewolf/animagus dog as a metaphor for homosexuality, but OTOH I'm not a S/R shipper and I'm not that versed in HPfandom, so I'm willing to wager somebody else has already made that observation and done it with greater skill than my feeble blatherings could. So I'll just say "what they said" and assume that covers it ;)

Now I'm off to work!
