Feb. 14th, 2004 12:44 pmTold my folks about the cancellation. They're just as surprised as anyone.
As a far bit of warning I am upset about losing my show. Anybody right now who is taking their time to say that this season sucked, or they never liked the show anyway, is not somebody I'm going to be talking to. I appreciate those of you who had least had the foresight to say "If you liked the show, you probably don't want to read this post." so thanks for that. But otherwise I've got zero tolerance. If you're dancing on the grave then I'm no longer reading you. Sorry but there we are.
In other news, I feel like I should be doing my part as a spoiler whore to at least address the concerns of spoiler virgins who are worried that the cancellation with no notice will mean the show won't get a proper sendoff. Obviously I don't want to give away spoilers of any kind but at the same time I hate thinking of people being upset if I could at least reassure them. So let me say this - as of this week they were only up to episode 18, which leaves 4 whole eps for them to work with. You might recall in past seasons that time period was used for the Pylea arc, Connor's return, and Jasmine, so there's plenty of time for them to bring in entirely new plot arcs (if new plot arcs are needed) and to give them closure. Plus, nothing I've seen for the eps from now until 18 suggests to me that they're going to be unable to move from what they've done there to storylines that would provide a satisfying end to the series. So don't worry. They've got plenty of time and room to do whatever they need to do.
Of course I've got my own theories about the finale, or at least what the finale should be ( Not a spoiler, nor is it based on one, but cutting in case people don't want to read guesses either ) but lord knows I had pretty much zero percent accuracy on my guess for the Buffy ending, so there's that.
I'll still be writing. I have no idea what it'll be like to be in a TV fandom where the show isn't there anymore (from personal experience, I'm aware this has already happened in other fandoms) so I've got no ability to guess what it will do to my muses to not have fresh material to work with. But I can at least say that I don't plan on stopping just because the show won't be here. I'll be writing as long as I've got stuff to write about. Heck, I started out in a fandom where fresh influxes of canon happened once a year at best, and even that was assuming you wanted to accept the new stuff as part of the storyline. So not like I don't have experience with figuring out new things for my boys to do even if canon can't help me.
Speaking of which, I saw somebody talking about virtual seasons. I absolutely suck at organization so no way could I do the administrative stuff for something like that, but if anybody out there wants to do virtual seasons once the show is done feel free to grab me if you want me. Brainstorming, writing, het/slash/gen - whatever. I'd be happy to do my part to keep the show alive in some fashion. Just let me know.
And with that, I'm going to try to write more Pet.
Oh yeah, final thought: at some point somebody should make "I love my dead gay show" icons. Someone who is better at making icons than I am.
