thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (not a clue)
Productive day. Finally took down the Christmas tree and am now marveling at all the free space my living room now has. Also shoved a few other things into storage to slowly bring my dining room back to a place where people could eat in it. Not that I ever do that myself, mind you.

Baked bread, made BLT pasta, cleaned house, talked with [livejournal.com profile] cin1607 about various travel plans for the next few months, made plans to see RotK with my dad tomorrow, and generally enjoyed the use of my Tivo while I did it.

I find myself feeling vaguely disappointed, because I'd planned on trying to take a dance class courtesy of the cheap ones that the local adult ed offers, but then I realized that I'd have to miss a session while in England, and that I'd only have a day to recover from jet lag before hitting the one after it, and that alone was enough to make me wonder if it was going to be worthwhile to try. Then today [livejournal.com profile] cin1607 wisely pointed out that her travel plans should include some leeway time for any plane or weather snafus which would snatch out yet another class. So that's 3 out of 8. So I'm kinda thinking I won't be doing this. And on the one hand I'd been kind of nervous/stressed about it anyway considering that I'm still trying to find out the limits of my health and I didn't even know if I could do the classes in the first place, but on the other hand I was kind of looking forward to trying. And to my knowledge the next round of these won't be until fall, so if I miss this window it's about a half a year. So phooey. Kinda. Ish. Sorta.

To paraphrase a not really at all wise man, I'm ambivilant but I'm also not.

Anyway....

There's a new part of Pet percolating in my brain. No idea if I'll get it out by the end of the night though. And tomorrow is The L Word, right? I've got that ready to be Tivoed. Might try watching it tomorrow night anyway, see what it's like.

And to round out my post of productive apathy, I tried to watch Margaret Cho's special on Showtime because I know a lot of people like her and apparently she's very cool politically and such (she was one of the judges for Moveon.org's Bush in 30 seconds contest) and I have to say... I don't think I'm her target audience. I watched about a half hour and didn't laugh once. Which I say not so much to put down those who find her funny but to open the door to anyone who does to be able to let me know if The Notorious CHO is possibly not her best material. I mean I loved Dennis Miller back in the day but lord knows I wouldn't recommend anybody listen to the crud he puts out now. So if her earlier stuff is actually good I'll be open to giving it a try. If this was exemplary... well there we are.

[ETA: Caught some of "I'm the one that I want" not long after. I think what it is is that she's not so much funny as she's a somewhat good storyteller. Like I found her whole discussion of what went on with her sitcom and her personal reactions to it to be interesting and I watched the whole thing - even pausing it on Tivo when I had to do something so I wouldn't miss it - but I didn't laugh once. So as a comediene she's not that hot but as a storyteller she's not bad.]

Oh! On the other hand, speaking of stuff which was actually cool, I totally by accident caught this show on the History Channel where Terry Gilliam talks about how things were during Medeval times. The ep I caught was about minstrels and was just fascinating to watch. I put that one on a season pass, and I recommend it for anybody else who might care.

With that I'm back to taking care of my kitchen, and grabbing a shower, and possibly writing but we'll see. Later!
