According to the weather reports I flicked through this morning we're due to get 3-5" of snow, 3-6", 5-8", 6-12" or quite possibly 3-16".

Not that the weathermen (and it was all men, hence my use of the term, plus at this early hour I'm not sure I can correctly spell "meteorologist") were hedging their bets or anything.

Quote of the morning:

"It's going to be quite a day for weather outside."

Really? How's that inside weather going to be today? [eyeroll]

I've got to agree with Jon Stewart, who said last night that the problem with all this is that they act as though we've never seen snow before. Which is actually kind of stupid on many levels, but moreso considering the snow squall that hit earlier this week which touched down in all the areas that I was watching news broadcasts from. So where they get this "First snow of the season!" (exclamation point theirs, not mine) I have no idea.

Work today, work tomorrow, chances are Sunday I ain't getting out of bed before noon ;)

Corn muffins were fine, sky is overcast, I can't really tell if the humidifier I bought the other day is doing much of anything, and apparently there are some romance novel cliches that even I don't have pride enough to admit that I don't like (how's that for generous use of double negatives?) (and in other words, one of the bunnylettes from yesterday is still with me, though it warped a bit, and now I'm tempted to write it out later just for amusement value).

And I may or may not do a rant later about "semi-homeade cooking" and the annoying woman behind it. Because I know y'all care.

Off to work!

Okay, two not fun things about winter:

1) My dad will be flying in from Dallas tonight, or at least he's scheduled to. So here's hoping the snow doesn't mess him up.

2) I just found out Annika has pneumonia. She's supposedly doing okay for being sick, but even still that's got to suck when you're still measuring your age in months and not years. =/

Short version: lots of snow, work cancelled tomorrow, still don't know anything about the Dad situation.

Longer version to come later tonight. I'll be leaving work in a few and driving home veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slowly.

Safe!

Got home safe, in only 3x the amount of time it normally takes! Which actually I don't say in a bad way. I'd much rather all my fellow drivers keep it in first or second and drive like they have brains in their heads. Throw in a tiny traffic jam and there ya go!

So am home safe, have no reason to leave the house until Sunday, all is well.

Also heard that Dad's flight was cancelled, so he's safe in Dallas for the night =)

Now to snuggle my poor abandoned kitties.

ETA: By the way, how cool is it that we were all able to track this storm by seeing our friends post about it as it hit them? It's like smoke signals, only digital. I think it's neat =)
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (not a clue)
Okay, so [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth posted this link to the animal personality test and, being a curious sort, I took it.

It gave me 3 options. Harumph.

I'm supposed to read all 3 and decide for myself what applies, but honestly I'm too close to tell.

So - you tell me. Am I a bear, a lion, or a fox?
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (anti-drug)
I will stop spamming I swear.

But here's my thought. Considering that [livejournal.com profile] wolfling has been the latest person to get bitten by the "Jossverse characters in a medieval setting = fun" bug, why don't we make it a thing? Take the snowy weekend to do a ficlet/drabble/whatever you want to call it that takes your fav BtVS or AtS characters and tosses 'em into a place with castles and horses and pretty, pretty costumes? Write what you want! Make it time travel or AU! Screw any need for plausible reasons for getting them there, if that's what's holding you back! To hell with two steps! Be damned with historical accuracy! Send 'em to an alternate dimension with just enough of the trappings to get your rocks off if that's your thing! Use as many demons as you like! Don't forget that leather and fur are very sexy items! Feel free to allow the characters to continue to keep modern standards of hygene! And again forget not the pretty costumes!

I proclaim this the TBQ wants others to enable her kinks Medieval Times Ain't Just For Restaurants weekend. Go forth! Write! Give me links when you're done with it. =)

Now I'm shutting up for a while, honest.

ETA: Other fandoms are welcome as well =)
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (cooking)
Okay, copying [livejournal.com profile] versailles_rose here by looking out my window and guesstimating that we've had probably around 5 inches of snow so far and it's still falling steadily. Thus I keep our digital smoke signals going and secure my place in geekdom.

Also? GIP.

And now I'm going to go cook be sexy.

I surrender

I give up. [livejournal.com profile] jennyo has won. I'm aware there wasn't actually a competition or contest per se, but if there was dear God would she have won it.

The Lay of Westley of Wyndham. Go. Read. NOW.
