Okay, hate to say it but Strategy is temporarily on hold while I catch up with real life stuff which includes, but is not limited to, actually writing my Faithficathon story (cough). Stupid deadlines. Anyway, in an ideal world I'll get back to the final two parts of it by Wednesday. [fingers crossed]

jennyo that it's annoying as hell to try to have an AtS discussion without having to deal with the Spike situation, or to even offer a comment about the Spike situation without doing something that's like unto feeling like you can't comment on racial issues without prefacing it by saying you were actually a black woman in the 1960s (ie "Well I like Spike and all, but...") yet I don't care enough to even join stonecutters and lurk because, well, all discussion communities eventually drive me bugnuts 'cause they're always going to have some moron mucking it up for the rest of you.
This is why I like LJ. I get to weed for morons. I enjoy fandom muchly because of it.
My opinion? Christ people, take a valium. Not the stonecutters folks. I'm fine with them. Possibly because JennyO and I speak a similar dialect of alpha-female/bitch which enables me to read her posts without slitting my wrists and thinking she's talking about my love for Spike, damn her! How dare she judge my character love and send me into a shame spiral from which I cannot recover!
But otherwise - sheesh. Rub your pressure points, gang. (ob Bad Boys ref) Yeah, I've seen the poster. It's a photoshopped image of Angel and Spike that's so old Boreanaz still has cheekbones. Strangely this doesn't keep me up nights. Neither does the fact that the WB is promoting the show in a way that they know will get ratings. I like AtS. It makes me happy that the WB is putting ad money behind it. That means they want to keep the show. This is a good thing.
I mean let's face it - I love Alexis and would love to know why he and Aly haven't done right by humanity by spreading their DNA, but the boy doesn't up the ratings. Marsters, OTOH, farts near a convention and 80,000 fangirls show up. Do the math. Then divide it by the coefficent of "Do we advertise that 3 of the same supporting actors are still on the show, therefore wasting our money on providing no new information whatsoever, or do we advertise something new about the show that might be the thing to draw in additional viewers who weren't already interested in the current cast? Hum - why was this question even brought up at the meeting again?" and then stop talking about it because we're done now.
This sort of thing especially annoys me because I watch people trying to decipher stuff that's easily decipherable if they spent five seconds to learn the industry. It's like last year when people had heart attacks when Alexis got the "and" credit. Oh no! He's at the end! He's been demoted! No, dipshit, he got a promotion and an honor but thanks for playing. Read Hollywood for Dummies and then we'll let you join in on the conversation.
Again, pressure points, people. Nobody is challenging your love for the bleach monkey. Adore him all you like. People who don't want to talk about Spike who then create a safe zone to not talk about Spike is a problem that, for you, solved itself. You can skip along your merry way now, they did all the work.
Likewise, breathing into paper bags re the usage of Spike next season would also be a good idea because you don't know yet. No, you don't. No, you don't.
Look, I'm possibly the most rabid AtS fan you're likely to find. I will sit here and bitch and moan about things they've fucked up on my favorite show, but if I, the girl who goes on for paragraphs about camera angles is sitting here saying "Wait a sec" then calm down. Because right now the only thing you're bitching about is your own imagination and possibly this says more about your self-induced stress levels than it does about the future of the show.
And with that I go back to the other stuff that's keeping me busy. Night!
