For
justwolf Protocol!verse Andrew knows about Wes that no one else does
1) He knows when Wesley cries. Not that spouses ever do because like everything involving emotions it's forbidden. But turning tears off is a lesson that takes many years to learn, especially for a child, and Andrew was there each time it happened.
2) He knows Wesley's favorite color. Not that Wesley ever said this preference out loud, and again he's not allowed to have one. But when he was on his own Andrew could tell which colors of sheets and clothing Wesley tended to feel more comfortable in, so he tried to keep as many of those around as he could without tipping anyone off.
3) He knows the secret signal that means Wesley needs an excuse to leave because he really has to go to the bathroom. This may not seem like much, but Andrew wonders how many formal events Wesley's been trapped and miserable in since nobody in Angel's home knows what that signal is.
4) He knows each and every wound Wesley's father inflicted on him. Both the visible and invisible ones.
5) He knows Wesley's favorite stories. He's told Wesley's favorite stories. He knows Wesley likes having the escape of the fantasy, and he wonders if anything in Wesley's life is offering him a similar comfort now.
For
ladybug218 Five Dates Veronica and Angel didn't go on
1) There could've been coffee. They could've sat at the Perk and he could've listened to her talk about anything at all while he held his coffee cup in both hands, and focused all his energy on trying not to shatter the ceramic or the fragile trust that she'd chosen to give to him.
2) There could've been a movie. He could've taken her to the theater in town and bought soda and popcorn like any guy dating a teenaged girl would. He would've sat in the theater with her, comfortable in the dark in ways he didn't have to be ashamed of. And when he turned out to actually enjoy whatever horrible movie they were watching, maybe she wouldn't laugh at him.
3) He could've bought her those tickets to Paris. Not when she was dating Archie, of course, or him Cal. But if he and she were both alone he could've bought those tickets and he could've taken her. He would've showed her the museums and talked about the history and sworn up and down the trip was nothing but platonic right up until the moment they kissed.
4) They could've gone for walks. Maybe on the beach, maybe through the park. No real destination in mind. No real purpose either, which after years of patrolling with Buffy would've taken him some time to get used to. But after a while he would've liked the idea of being with someone just to be, and when she slipped her hand in his that would've made him smile.
5) She could've taken him anywhere. By teasing, by tilting, by taunting, by force she could've dragged him out to practically any event or place or location that she wanted, and he would've done almost anything she asked, because in the end he was enraptured by her company and there was a light inside of her that somehow made him feel warm, and real, and male, and human.
There could've been any of that. Or all of that. But she'd been in love with Logan and, well, Angel was starting to grow used to the ironic twists that life was giving him. And so none of those five had ever been.
