Watched the Nick News special last night. It was well done. The only moral, if any, was something like "Everyone has different opinions, that's okay, don't beat people up because of your differences." They gave equal time to both points of view, and one of the things I especially liked was at one point Linda E. asked the kids if they felt that the anti-gay kids in their discussion group (who were anti-gay for religious reasons) were hateful because of their beliefs. I thought that was a nice touch b/c it helped to emphasize that a belief against something doesn't necessarily mean you're a hateful person. It's a shame to think of how many kids will miss out on this well-done show just because their parents have a knee-jerk reaction to the word "gay".
Can I just say though? Maybe I'm going to Hell for this but the kid sitting next to Rosie was setting off my gaydar in a big way. I sense irony in that kid's future.
Busy day at work today. Doing a big mailing, and I've got students in about a half hour. I've also got a meeting tonight at church.
Why am I mentioning all this? Because I've got a new Epiphany story, all beta-read and everything (waves hi to
wolfling) and if I get time tonight I'll try to post it. =)
