I'm back home at the Fortress of Company (which, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sisabet's inspiration, is now the name of my house). You know I knew going into it that CostCo on a Saturday would be insane, but you have no idea how insane until you're there. Fortunately I didn't have to buy anything. I was just going to get my picture on my card (thoughtfully given to me by the Boss) and remind myself what all they have for sale. Naturally I was drooling over the electronics and may have a digital camera purchase coming up in my future.

Then it was off to Trader Joe's and the nice thing about Trader Joe's is that no matter how stupid you get with buying more than you have to, it's still cheap. I've got to make more of a point of shopping there first, even though it's not as close to me.

Talked with Pop earlier today. Turns out he was at the hardware store and got into a conversation with the paint guy about how the paint in my bathroom likes to do this thing we call "intermittent sticking". Little did we know that when we hired a guy to paint this place he threw in the levitating brand at no extra cost. Quick history: painted, moved in, paint immediately peeled (just the bathroom, nowhere else). Asked about it, was told by several people that the solution would be a vent, put a vent in, had the guy repaint, it stayed on the walls for all of two weeks and then started peeling again.

Having no more money for home improvements and no other options in terms of dehumidifying the room that didn't actually involve taking out one of the walls, I resigned myself to a bathroom that had peeling paint. As of last week I also decided to call it a Vanderbilt bathroom, since the paint in one of the Vanderbilt mansions in Newport was also peeling. I figured if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.

But lo, Paint Guy at hardware store swears that he's got just the thing to stick to my walls. So tomorrow Dad and I will throw some of that up in the bathroom and see if it sticks. Dad adorably said we would have to scrape some paint off first and I pointed out that in fact we wouldn't have to since in many spots the paint has thoughtfully taken itself down already.

And now I'm up to putting together the onion soup to see if it works. I'll keep you posted.

Plus I really am going to try to write more of Pet tonight. Honest.
